For non-confidential print jobs, you can print directly from any web browser or Google Apps to any HP Printer at DPB & DGE without having to install printers on your machine or mobile device. For confidential print jobs, jobs that contain PII or NDA-sanctioned information, please refer to our instructions on how to Protect Confidential Print Jobs

Here's how to print with Google Print for the following:

NOTE: If you have already installed the printers locally on your machine, you might see the same printer listed twice in the Destination list when printing through Google Cloud Print. Your print job will be sent to the printer either way.

Using Google Cloud Print from a Web Browser

  1. Make sure your browser is signed into your Carnegie Science Google Account.  DPB & DGE's printers are only shared with @carnegiescience.edu accounts.

  2. When you are ready to print, go to File > Print in either the Google App menu within the browser, or the browser's File > Print menu.  You can also hit the keyboard strokes: Command + P (Mac) or Ctrl + P (Windows). The Print menu will appear: click the dropdown for the Destinations menu, then select See More...

  3. You'll see a list of recent print destinations. Make sure your Carnegie Account is chosen in Account Destinations. Scroll down to find Google Cloud Printers shared with you, which are denoted with a printer icon with a blue user. Select your desired Printer from the list.

  4. Check that your new destination is set to the chosen Google Cloud Printer. Click Print. Your printout should be waiting for you at the printer.

Using Google Cloud Print from a Google Productivity App on Mobile

  1. Make sure your mobile app signed into your Carnegie Science Google Account.  DPB & DGE's printers are only shared with @carnegiescience.edu accounts.

  2. Open a document you wish to print. Then tap the menu button on the upper right hand corner of the screen, usually denoted by three (3) vertical dots.

  3. Select Share & Export

  4. Select Print

  5. Tap the dropdown arrow in the upper right hand corner of the screen

  6. Choose the Google Cloud Printer, denoted with a cloud icon. The printer should also be followed by your Carnegie Account.

  7. Check that your new destination is set to the chosen Google Cloud Printer. Click the blue print icon in the upper right.

  8. If you are prompted to confirm you'd like to use Cloud Print, this is a good indicator that you probably shouldn't sending confidential information via this service. When ready, click OK. Your printout should be waiting for you at the printer.
