If you are juggling two, three, or simply several Google accounts, you can create Profiles in Google Chrome to help you manage your accounts in one place.

Set Up Profile

To set up your first profile, follow the instructions below:

Open up Google Chrome

Sign into the Chrome Browser by clicking on the gray person icon in the upper right hand corner of the browser. In the menu box that pops up, click Sign In to Chrome

  • If you see a name instead of a gray icon in the upper right hand corner of the browser, it means you've already set up one profile. To add another profile, go ahead and skip down to the Add Another Profile Instructions at the bottom of this article.
A dialog box will appear and prompt you for your email. Enter your email, and click Next.

Another box will appear that contains the information associated with your email that will prompt you for a password. Enter your password, and click Next.

A dialog box will appear, asking you to Link your current browser session to the account you signed into previously or create a new profile.
  • If you would like all the bookmarks, history and other customizations from your current browser session (essentially, the browser as it is at the moment in time) to be associated with the account you signed in with, click Link Data.
  • If you would like to keep your current session separate from the account you signed in with (essentially giving you a brand new, out of the box chrome browser with no customizations for this account), click Create new profile.

Google will inform you that you’ve been signed into Chrome. Click the blue 'Ok, got it' button.

Note that since you’ve been signed into Chrome, it will automatically sign you into the Google Apps such as gmail or Google Drive or Google Calendar with this account.

Add Another Profile
To add another profile, follow the instructions below:

Click on the profile name on the upper right hand corner of the window. In the menu box that pops up, click Switch Person

A new window will appear with tiles representing your current and other profiles. Click on Add Person on the bottom right hand corner.

Enter a profile name on the given line and choose an icon, if you wish. Then, click Save.

Chrome will open a new window with the newly added profile name in the upper right hand corner. The page will load and prompt you to sign in. Sign in as you regularly would.

If you need to switch to between different accounts on a whim, right click on the profile name in the upper right hand corner of the window and choose the profile you would like to switch to. Now, when you’re jumping between your many accounts, you can do a bit of a mental check in the upper right corner to see if you’re using the right account.
