Carnegie provides multiple file servers for data storage. Homes provides limited home directory storage for user protected data. Data is Carnegie's primary data storage server for on-going scientific projects. For high-performance storage, please see information on the Lustre filesystem on Memex. For archive storage, please see information on Google Drive Unlimited.
To access Carnegie file servers:
- In the Finder, click on the "Go" menu and select "Connect to Server"
For a "Server Address" enter in the server's hostname prefixed by "smb://". If you know the share you want to access, you can add it at the end as "/sharename", otherwise you'll be shown a list of shares to choose from when you connect. You can optionally click on the "+" button to save this connection as a favorite. See the example below for accessing Data. When done, click on the "Connect" button.
- Enter your credentials. You can check the option to remember your credentials if you don't want to enter your credentials every time you connect. When done, click on the "Connect" button.
- You are now connected
